Thunder linked to Herb Jones trade

by admin

The Oklahoma City Thunder have emerged as a potential trade destination for New Orleans Pelicans forward Herb Jones, who continues to attract interest from teams seeking defensive help.

NBA insider Marc Stein recently discussed Jones’ situation on the ALL NBA Podcast, suggesting that Oklahoma City’s collection of future draft picks could make the franchise a possible trade partner.

“I imagine that Herb Jones’ name will be suggested as a dream target. And look again, the Thunder have picks galore to offer because teams have been trying to pilfer for Herb Jones from the Pelicans for ages now,” Stein said.

According to Stein, New Orleans was demanding two first-round picks for Jones last season, making it difficult for interested teams to acquire the defensive-minded forward.

Jones has been involved in trade speculation for an extended period, although the Pelicans have consistently shown reluctance to move him.

The 28-year-old has experienced a reduced role this season, coming off the bench while averaging fewer than 20 minutes per game.

His limited playing time has raised additional questions about his future in New Orleans, particularly with teams around the league continuing to seek defensive versatility on the wing.

Oklahoma City possesses numerous future draft selections, potentially giving the Thunder enough assets to pursue Jones if the Pelicans become willing to negotiate.

However, there has been no indication that New Orleans has lowered its asking price or made Jones available for a trade.
