The Mets have removed 1B Eric Wagaman, OF Cristian Pache, LHP Philip Abner, and RHP Cameron Weston from the team’s 40-man roster.
Wagaman played in 26 games for a Mets team that had issues finding a reliable first baseman in 2026, posting a .588 OPS and hitting two homers in 52 plate appearances.

As for Pache, he joined the Mets last offseason on a minor league deal, but played in just 15 games in 2026, struggling to unseat any of the Mets’ outfielders for playing time.
Abner and Weston did not appear for the Mets in 2026, and neither have spent a significant amount of time pitching at the MLB level.
Pache was designated for assignment on Thursday, making space to claim INF Kyren Paris, formerly of the Los Angeles Angels.
By outrighting Wagaman, Abner, and Weston in addition to Pache, the Mets now have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
For context, MLB teams have until Monday, Nov. 2, to cut down their 40-man rosters to 40 players or less. Additionally, that date serves as the deadline for teams to exercise contract options and extend qualifying offers to pending free agents.
MLB free agency officially begins at 5 p.m. on that same day.
