One of the first lessons you learn as a fan of sports is that you can’t win em’ all. It’s become a hackneyed phrase, but it is an unalienable truth one must accept if you’re going to emotionally invest yourself in a team, especially in a sport like baseball where even the best teams still lose roughly 60 games a year. That doesn’t mean that certain losses don’t sting, and some may even leave emotional scarring that could take years to heal if ever.
But what if you could undo the result of one of those games that still haunt you to this day. There are of course numerous examples from Phillies history, with perhaps the most famous being Game 6 of the 1993 World Series. Who knows what would have happened if Mitch Williams successfully locked down the save and forced a decisive Game 7 over the Blue Jays? Maybe the Phillies would have ended their Cinderella season with a ring. At the very least, an entire generation of Phillies fans would have been spared trauma.

There are some more recent examples too. The 2023 NLCS will go down in infamy in Philadelphia, but what if the Phillies were able to close it out in Game 6 or even in Game 7 to win their second straight NL pennant? It’s not hard to see them possibly going on to win their elusive third championship in their franchise history and making it easier to look back on this era fondly.
So, if you could change the outcome of one Phillies fame, which would it be? Would you undo Joe Carter? What about making it so that you never have to think about Kevin Ginkel again? Or maybe there’s one particular regular season loss that has lived in your head for your own personal reason.
