Check out Alabama football fans recreating Tennessee Hate Week viral video

The Third Saturday in October is back in Tuscaloosa as Alabama football prepares to face Tennessee in Week 8.

The Tuscaloosa News asked Alabama fans and students to recite one of the most iconic rants in college football, the “I Hate Tennessee” speech. The rant was build around a campus tradition called Tennessee Hate Week, which underscores the intensity of the rivalry.

In 2007, then-UA student Irvin Carney went viral for his diatribe against the Volunteers, calling them “low down,” “dirty,” and the even railed against Tennessee’s orange as “puke inside of a pumpkin orange” of the kind “you can’t sit with.” The Crimson Tide went on to win that year’s game, 41-17.

Prior to the 2022 season, when the Volunteers claimed a 52-49 victory, Alabama had beaten Tennessee 15 times in a row.

The 2024 matchup saw the rivalry go back to Tennessee, which won 17-13, prompting goalposts being torn down and carried through the streets of Knoxville before being thrown into the Tennessee River.

Historically, Alabama leads the series with 60 wins against 39 lfor Tennessee with eight ties, per UA.

Back in Bryant-Denny Stadium, Alabama vs. Tennessee will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
