Staley has led South Carolina to three national titles, fresh off a championship game appearance last season.

As Staley and the rest of the Gamecocks prepare for a bounce-back year, a couple of people within the South Carolina program have made some moves.

On Sunday, former South Carolina assistant director of bands Quintus F. Wrighten Jr. announced that he will be departing the Gamecocks program and moving on from being on staff at the South Carolina School of Music.

“We are excited to begin the next chapter of our lives in Mississippi!” Wrighten said. “Many thanks to my friends and students of the @UofSC School of Music! The last 4 years have been filled with collegiality, growth, and artistry. Thank you! FOREVER to thee! And now, let’s go Band of Gold!!!”

Once Wrighten announced that he would be taking on a new role at Mississippi Gulf Coast, Dawn Staley took to social media, sending a message to the departing South Carolina staffer.

“Omgoodness!” Staley said. “I’m super happy for you Quintus but sad to see you go! We have some great times and we’ll miss you dearly! Best to you and you will always be a Gamecock!!”

Dawn Staley has been a member of the South Carolina Gamecocks community since 2008. She started her coaching career at Temple in 2000 and moved on to the SEC, ultimately cementing herself as one of the best coaches in conference history.
