Everything was going great for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday night until it wasn’t.
WBS was up 3-1 on the Utica Comets in the second period before the Comets scored two goals in eight seconds to tie it. The score stayed the same until late in the third period, when Dmitry Osipov scored the game-winning goal with 30.8 seconds left.

The game looked like it was going to OT before Osipov scored to make it 4-3. WBS pulled goaltender Joel Blomqvist and tried to find the equalizer, but ran out of time.
Melvin Fernstrom, Avery Hayes, and Bill Zonnon scored for the Penguins in this game. Hayes continues to torture the AHL and now has six goals and 10 points in seven games.
His goal on Friday came while the Penguins were shorthanded and it was an absolute laser.
He may not be with the NHL club right now, but he’s going to be a full-time NHL player in the near future.
WBS is now 4-4-1-0 this season and will play the Hershey Bears to start the November slate on Sunday. Puck drop is set for 5 p.m. ET.
