Funk posted on social media May 2 that he was joining the Great Lakes Valley Conference program.
In his time at Metamora, Funk, a 6-foot-10 forward, helped Metamora play in the 2025 Class 3A Sweet Sixteen. He averaged 14.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.7 blocks for the Redbirds, who finished 28-7 and won the Mid-Illini Conference. He was named all-Mid-Illini first team and picked up 2025 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association all-state third-team honors.
Upper Iowa finished last season at 17-11 overall and went 12-8 in GLVC play. The seventh-seed Peacocks ended their season with the first-round loss to eventual champion William Jewell in the GLVC Tournament.
