The UConn Huskies men’s basketball program learned its Big East conference schedule on Monday, as they’ll play a 20-game round robin schedule in advance of the conference tournament in mid-March.
But the UConn women’s program has yet to learn its schedule, and we’ve been left with just breadcrumbs about the challenging non-conference schedule that features the likes of LSU and South Carolina.

So, when will the Big East announce the schedule for the women’s slate of games?
Well, there’s been no official date yet, but we do know that last year’s schedule was released on Sept. 19, eight days after the men’s schedule was released on Sept. 11.
By that account, the women’s schedule should be out early next week, which would be about five weeks away from the start of the regular season (Nov. 3).
The men are starting the conference schedule on Dec. 23, but the women’s slate could start much earlier. Last year, the Huskies began league play on Nov. 30 with a 104-39 win over Xavier. They played three conference games in total before the Christmas holiday.

As always, the Huskies are expected to be good this season. But it’s a much different team than the one that went 38-1 last year and swept through the regular season with a perfect record.
Azzi Fudd is gone after being selected with the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft, and with her gone, there are questions for the Huskies in the backcourt.
Sarah Strong, the reigning National Player of the Year, anchors the frontcourt with Blanca Quinones, and while UConn should be able to dominate teams on the interior, those perimeter questions are real.

First-year Olivia Vukosa, who represented Croatia in international play this summer, should make an impact, but she’s also a post player who will have to play alongside Strong and Quinones, rather than on the outside. She was the No. 1 recruit in the country for the Class of 2026.

After a tough loss against Maryland on Saturday, the UConn football team (1-1) is back in action on Saturday night on the road at Southern Miss. The Golden Eagles are 1-1, having played two blowout games so far.
They defeated Alcorn State 49-3 before losing to Auburn 43-8 on Saturday. Kickoff is 7 p.m. ET.
The Huskies won their opener 56-7 against Lafayette before falling 38-14 against the Terrapins. Quarterback Kalieb Osborne was just 10-of-21 for 74 yards in the defeat.
